Our values

At Bookfeast, there are two principles that guide everything we do:

  • All of our activities are driven by a desire to “create readers”;
  • Whilst our methods are informed by a sense of adventure and exuberance, at our core we are serious about the advancement of learning & education for the benefit of the public by the promotion of the arts of literature, poetry, the written and spoken word, and related arts.

The way we go about fulfilling our aims – whether projects for children, teenagers, older citizens or the homeless – is informed by a set of values that shape the way we work:

Side by Side
As determined believers in our cause, we focus on bringing the pleasures and benefits of literature and reading to the local community.  Our ‘hands on, make it happen’ attitude guides us in finding new and effective ways of achieving our goals.

Learning Should Inspire

Our core aim is to inspire and encourage participation in the magic of literature.

Reading is for Everyone
We are here to offer all parts of the Oxfordshire community the opportunity to participate in our projects and events – from the very young to the very old.

Oxfordshire Born and Bred
We are incredibly proud of the literary tradition of Oxford & Oxfordshire, and would like to continue to expand our work throughout the county.
